Interesting you bring this up. Jumping into my junior year, I am taking a lot of group based classes, some with students from other majors, and just the other day the issue of communication between parties was adressed. In my limited experience, I quickly learned when dealing with large groups that setting key milestones for each member of the group and relaying with coordinators regarding the progress is vital in order to meet deadlines in a multi-week project.

When in a group, egos have to put aside for the success of the project and clear goals must be defined so that everyone is on the same page whether it is art assets, programming code, what have you.

Regarding your last point on personal motivation:
"Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish." :]

I was thinking a lot of the same things. Although I was certain that Ninja Theory would remain faithful to the series in terms of gameplay. Nothing that they've made thus far would suggest that they couldn't make a good DMC game. I think its just questionable to change the look of an Icon so many games in to its history. Just like super Mario or Zelda you might not have played the game but you recognize the character. Fans are going to react adversely when someone changes the art style or the character design. This happened Legend of Zelda Wind Waker and even Infamous 2 which has only had 1 game. Hopefully fans will look past this and enjoy the game.
